Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team Returning To FDL

The Wounded Warriors Amputee Softball Team is returning to Fond du Lac this August. They will be playing softball games against teams from the City’s Fire and Police Departments. Other activities are being scheduled as well. Organizer Rob Vande Zande says money made from the event will go towards the Warrior’s favorite charity a camp for kids that are amputees. He says, “They are not different they are just like everybody where they can do and achieve everything they want to set their mind to. And that’s what the team looks at is helping these kids look at life as ‘you’re normal you can do whatever you want.’” On Friday, August 10th at 5 pm. there will be a meet and great with the team at the American Legion Post. Saturday, August 11th brings a motorcycle ride and the games at the Dock Spiders Herr-Baker Field. The Warriors will play the Fire Department at noon and the Police Department at 3 p.m. In between there will be a home run derby the public can participate in. There is no admission fee. Vande Zande says, “People can come out here and it is not going to cost them a dime unless they want to buy some food, put their name in a bucket raffle or a 50/50 raffle. We are asking for a free will offering a free will donation as they walk through the door.” After the games Mozart Cadillac will perform a free concert playing Classic Rock and Country.
