A Road Win For WLA Boys In Opener

The Winnebago Lutheran boys basketball team edged Campbellsport 33-31 in the season opener for both teams on Friday night.  The offenses struggled early in this one as WLA led 8-4 after one quarter and 13-9 at the half.  The Vikings stretched their lead to 24-17 at then end of the 3rd.  They ran off the first 6 points of the 4th quarter to open up a 30-17 lead.  That’s when Campbellsport made a furious comeback as Jacob O’Brien hit a 3-pointer and sophomore Jordan Dreikosen shook off a rough night shooting to bury 3 from beyond the arc to cut the WLA lead to two points.  Campbellsport fired a three-pointer at the horn that banged of the back iron allowing WLA to escape with the win.  Ben Wolff led WLA with 10 points.  Maustin Otterstatter added 6.  Jordan Dreikosen scored 9 of his team high 11 points in the 4th quarter to pace the Cougars.  WLA will travel to Manitowoc Lutheran next Tuesday,  November 20th.  Campbellsport heads to Kettle Moraine Lutheran on Friday night.
