Brewers’ Season Ends in N-L Wild Card Game

Washington 4, Milwaukee 3

–Juan Soto’s single and an error on Brewers right fielder Trent Grisham scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth and helped the Nationals beat the Brewers in comeback fashion in the National League Wild Card Game Tuesday night. Milwaukee built a 3-0 lead early, thanks to a two-run home run from Yasmani Grandal in the first inning and a solo shot from Eric Thames in the second inning. That’s all the scoring the Brewers would do in the game – with Washington getting a solo home run in the third inning, then scoring the go ahead runs with two outs in the eighth. Josh Hader took the loss in relief for the Brewers – Stephen Strasburg earns the win for the Nationals, who advance to the National League Division Series to take on the Dodgers – game one is Thursday in Los Angeles. 

Tonight – the American League Wild Card teams face off in Oakland as the A’s host the Tampa Bay Rays. Sean Manaea gets the start for Oakland against Charlie Morton for Tampa Bay. First pitch is 7 pm (central), coverage is on ESPN TV. Winner moves on to face Houston in the American League Division Series.
