Cardinals Run Ends In State Quarterfinal

The Fond du Lac hockey team’s season came to an end in the state quarterfinals with a 6-3 loss to Superior at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison on Thursday night.  Fondy fell behind 2-0 less than seven minutes into the game but cut that lead in half at the 15:51 mark of the first period when Michael Wilson  score a power play goal with help from Kyle Dunn. The Cardinals evened the match at two at the 6:03 mark of the 2nd period when Wilson added his 2nd goal, assisted by Ty Rebedew and Rex Whealon. Superior regained the lead with a power play goal at the 16:36 mark of the 2nd period.  Wilson tied the score with a short-handed goal assisted by Rebedew and Ben Pertl.  Superior countered with three straight goals to earn a bid into the state semifinals on Friday night.  Fondy’s season ends at 22-4-3.
