Conference Tournament Wrestling Round Up – 2/2/19

Conference Tournament Wrestling:

FVA:

Fond du Lac placed seventh at Saturday’s FVA Conference Wrestling Meet at Fond du Lac High School. The Cardinals scored 104.5 team points.

Fondy got a pair of second-place finishers at conference – Isaac Ortegon at 138 pounds and Braelon Allen at 182 pounds. The Cardinals also got third place finishes from Josiah Streblow at 152 pounds and Joe Schmitz at 285 pounds.

Kaukauna won the FVA Championship – with 254.5 points, Oshkosh West was second (168.5 points), Hortonville was third (155 points).

Flyway:

Lomira won the Flyway Conference Wrestling Meet at North Fond du Lac HIgh School on Saturday. The Lions scored 250.5 team points, to edge out North Fond du Lac/St. Mary’s Springs. The teams share the conference title after NFDL/SMSA won the dual meet portion of the conference season. The Oriole/Ledger team scored 247 team points to place second. Omro finished third (165 points), Winnebago Lutheran fourth (128 points), Laconia fifth (118 points), St. Lawrence Seminary sixth (114.5 points) and Mayville seventh (75 points).

For Lomira: Carlos Lopez (106 pounds), Alex Gundrum (132 pounds), Adam Sauer (138 pounds), Eric Pilling (145 pounds) were all conference champions at their weight class. The Lions also had second place finishers in Brandon Faber (113 pounds), Caleb Andes (126 pounds), Noah Danner (152 pounds), Owen Casper (160 pounds) and Cauy Pastorius (195 pounds).

For NFDL/SMSA: Zack Williams (113 pounds), Andrew Forsythe (152 pounds), Dalton Fritch (160 pounds), Lane Fritch (182 pounds) and Marcus Orlandoni (220 pounds) were all Conference Champions at their weight class. The Oriole/Ledger team also had second place finishers in Gavin Foote (106 pounds), Joey Krizenesky (120 pounds), Gadge Holmes (145 pounds) and Carson Reitz (170 pounds).

For WLA: Ryan Jacobs was the lone Conference Champion for the Vikings – winning the individual title at 285 pounds. WLA also had a second place finisher in Josh Roloff at 132 pounds and third place finishers in Jacob Bilitz (113 pounds), Micah Hinds (138 pounds), Josh Huey (152 pounds) and Noah Hoppe (195 pounds).

For Laconia: Colton Lovejoy was the only Conference Champion for the Spartans – winning the individual title at 126 pounds. Laconia also had a second place finisher in Tyler Lovejoy at 182 pounds and a third place finisher in Michael Lonnee at 120 pounds.

For St. Lawrence Seminary: The Hilltoppers had third place finishers in Noah Britto (106 pounds), Caulodrina Williams (132 pounds), Joseph Hall (145 pounds) and Osvaldo Gonzalez (285 pounds).

For Mayville: Ty Hockers was the only Conference Champion for the Cardinals at 195 pounds. Jackson Schlender took second place at 138 pounds and Joe Klein took third at 285 pounds.

For Omro: Kaden Besaw (120 pounds) and Jacob Kafer (170 pounds) were Conference Champions for the Foxes. Kyle Dietzen (220 pounds) and Mitchell Potratz (285 pounds) were second place finishers.

East Central Conference:

Campbellsport placed third at the ECC Meet, hosted by Berlin on Saturday, scoring 174 team points. Ripon placed fifth (153 points) and Waupun seventh (74 points). Winneconne won the Conference Championship (210 points), with Berlin placing second (189 points).

For Campbellsport: Roman Skorupa (120 pounds), Cade Heisdorf (132 pounds), Logan Kreuser (145 pounds) and Matt Koelbl (195 pounds) were all Conference Champions at their weight class. The Cougars also had second place finishers in Devyn Urban (152 pounds) and Elijah O’Laughlin (285 pounds) and third place finishers in Drake Mullenbach (106 pounds) and Chris Zimdahl (220 pounds).

For Ripon: The Tigers had two Conference Champions – with Kaden Keenlance (126 pounds) and Joseph Kain (182 pounds) taking the title at their respective weight class. Leeroy Cotton (120 pounds) and Lucas Scheier (220 pounds) took second place, with Brady Kissinger (160 pounds) and Aaron Socha (195 pounds) placing third.

For Waupun: The Warriors had a pair of third place finishers in Blake DeGroff (126 pounds) and Trevor Roecker (138 pounds).

Trailways Conference:

Oakfield placed 11th at the Trailways Conference Meet – scoring 34 team points. The Oaks had Brendan Hartwig (160 pounds) and Louis Schraufnagel (220 pounds) place fourth at their weight class to highlight the day for the Oaks.

Eastern Wisconsin Conference:

Chilton/Hilbert placed third at the EWC Meet with 184 team points. Kiel placed third (176 points), with New Holstein placing seventh (95 points). Brillion won the Conference Championship – with 240 team points.

For Chilton/Hilbert: Zach Boehnlein was the lone Conference Champion – taking the title at 145 pounds. Joe Boehnlein (126 pounds), Maverik Ott (138 pounds) and Colton See (160 pounds) all took second place.

For Kiel: Andrew Schad (120 pounds) and Alex Kleinhans (170 pounds) were Conference Champions at their respective weight classes. Caitlin Meyer (106 pounds) and Elijah Sippel (132 pounds) were second place finishers.

For New Holstein: The Huskies got third place finishes from Mike Volz (152 pounds) and Shaun Parnell (285 pounds).
