Fondy Dominates Oshkosh West

The Fond du Lac football team won a huge game over Oshkosh West 35-20 at Fruth Field on Friday night.  The Cardinals dominated the first quarter but couldn’t punch it in the end zone and settled for a 0-0 tie.  Fondy broke that tie with 8:17 left in the first half on a 1 yard Kyle Pierce TD run.  Junior Peter Andrew the covered up an Oshkosh West fumble on their first play after the kickoff and Kyle Pierce punched it in from yards out at the 7:16 mark to make it 14-0.  Oshkosh West finally got their offense rolling late in the first half as Sam Olejnik threw a 15 yards score to Spencer Lemon and a 32 yard missile Cole Yoder to cut the Cards lead to 14-13 after a missed extra point.  Fond du Lac came out of the half time locker room and dominated the Wildcats. Justin Maratik scored three 2nd half TDs on runs of 1 and 32 yards in the 3rd quarter.  Maratik put the game away with a one yard run with 8:45 left in the fourth.  West added a final TD with :19 seconds left for the games final score.  Maratik carried the mail 20 times for 145 yard and 3 TDs.  Kyle Pierce had 37 tough yards on 12 carries and 2 TDs.  Ty Krueger added 74 yards on 12 carries.  The win improves Fondy to 3-4 on the season and 3-2 in Valley Football Association South Division play.  Oshoksh West drops to 2-5 overall and 1-4 in league play.  The Cardinals head to Menasha next week and then wrap the regular season at Fruth for Homecoming on October 18th.  You’ll hear both games on KFIZ and at kfiz.com.  The Cardinals need to win one of their final two games to qualify for the playoffs.
