Green Bay places Aaron Rodgers on Injured Reserve

After being officially eliminated from the playoffs on Monday night with Atlanta’s win over Tampa Bay, the Packers have ended the season of Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, placing him on Injured Reserve. Green Bay signed Joe Callahan back to the 53-man roster to take his spot. The move comes after Rodgers returned from the injured list for last Sunday’s game at Carolina, in which he threw for three touchdowns and three interceptions in a 31-24 loss. The Packers went 3-4 in the seven games Rodgers missed with a broken collarbone to stay alive in the playoff hunt, but needed to win out to have a chance at making the postseason for the ninth year in a row. Brett Hundley, who started all seven games in Rodgers’ absence, will start the final two games against Minnesota and Detroit.
