WIAA Wrestling Regionals : 2/9/19

Division One Regional – at Oshkosh North:

Fond du Lac took fourth place at the D1 regional at Oshkosh North on Saturday, scoring 150.5 team points. Isaac Ortegon at 138 pounds and Braelon Allen at 182 pounds were Regional Champions and will advance to sectionals. Also advancing to sectionals for the Cardinals were Michael Streblow (113 pounds), Logan Naker (145 pounds), Josiah Streblow (152 pounds) and Joe Schmitz (285 pounds).

Division Two Regional – at North Fond du Lac:

North Fond du Lac/St. Mary’s Springs took third place in the team competition at Saturday’s regional – scoring 223 team points. Zack Williams (106 pounds), Andrew Forsythe (145 pounds), Lane Fritch (182 pounds) and Marcus Orlandoni (195 pounds) were all Regional Champions and will advance to sectionals. Also advancing to sectionals for NFDL/SMSA will be Dalton Fritch (160 pounds), Jacob Koffman (220 pounds) and Avery Hull (285 pounds).

Kiel won the Regional Championship as a team and will advance to the team sectional next week. The Raiders scored 232 team points, with Max Schaefer (113 pounds), Andrew Schad (120 pounds), Elijah Sippel (132 pounds), Jose Capetillo (138 pounds), Alex Kleinhans (160 pounds), Jeb Sippel (170 pounds) and Jason Klauck (285 pounds) qualifying for individual sectionals.

Chilton/Hilbert took second place with 225.5 team points. Peyton Ladd (113 pounds, Joe Boehnlein (120 pounds), Phoenix Ladd (126 pounds), Maverik Ott (138 pounds), Zach Boehnlein (145 pounds), Gaven Lisowe (152 pounds) and Mathias Beyer (182 pounds) all qualifying for individual state.  

Elkhart Lake/Glenbeulah finished in third place with 208 team points – with Kyle Jens (106 pounds), Cody Rebedew (126 pounds), Raistilin Lopez Lloyd (132 pounds), Ben Mieselwitz (170 pounds), Finn Shields (195 pounds) and Matthew Schorer (220 pounds) qualifying for sectionals.


St. Lawrence Seminary placed fourth with 99 team points – the Hilltoppers did not advance anyone to sectionals, but got third place finishes from Ryan Min (113 pounds), Daniel Trinh (120 pounds) and Osvaldo Gonzalez (285 pounds).

New Holstein place fifth at the regional with 96 team points. Mike Volz (152 pounds) placed second to advance to sectionals.

Division Two Regional – at Sheboygan Falls:  

Campbellsport won the Regional Championship as a team and will advance to team sectionals. The Cougars scored 193.5 team points to take the title. Drake Muellenbach (106 pounds), Cade Heisdorf (126 pounds), Devyn Urban (152 pounds), Matt Koelbl (195 pounds), Chris Zimdahl (220 pounds) and Elijah O’Laughlin (285 pounds) all advanced to individual sectionals.

Kewaskum finished fourth with 166 team points. The Indians had Nathaniel Droese (120 pounds), Braden Maertz (145 pounds), Eric Bauer (160 pounds) and Tanner Goeman (170 pounds) advance to sectionals.

Lomira finished fifth with 164 team points. The Lions had Carlos Lopez (106 pounds), Brandon Faber (113 pounds), Alex Gundrum (132 pounds), Adam Sauer (138 pounds) and Noah Danner (145 pounds) advance to sectionals.

Waupun finished sixth with 62 team points. The Warriors had Trevor Roecker advance to sectionals at 132 team pounds.

Mayville finished in seventh with 45 points. The Cardinals did not have any wrestlers advance to sectionals, but got third place finishes from Ty Hockers (195 pounds) and Joe Klein at 220 pounds.

Division Two Regional – at Little Chute:

Ripon finished in fifth place at the Little Chute regional with 129 team points. The Tigers had Leeroy Cotton (113 pounds), Kaden Keenlance (126 pounds) and Joseph Kain (182 pounds) advance to sectionals.

Division Three Regional – at Laconia:

Laconia finished in third place at their home regional Saturday with 136 team points. The Spartans had Michael Lonnee (120 pounds), Colton Lovejoy (126 pounds), Charles Glewen (138 pounds), Brodey Schroeder (160 pounds) and Tyler Lovejoy (182 pounds) advance to sectionals.

Division Three Regional – at Southern Door:

Winnebago Lutheran Academy finished in fifth place at the Southern Door regional. The Vikings scored 102.5 team points, and had Josh Huey (152 pounds) and Ryan Jacobs (285 pounds) advance to sectionals.

Division Three Regional – at Oakfield:

Oakfield finished in sixth place at their home regional on Saturday. The Oaks scored 41 team points and did not advance any wrestlers to sectionals. They did get third place finishes from Brendan Hartwig (170 pounds) and Austin Gitter (285 pounds).
