WIAA State Championships:

Today is the start of the WIAA State Football Championships at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.

Division 5:

St. Mary’s Springs takes on Stratford for the championship this afternoon.

The Ledgers look to complete another unbeaten season with a win today and secure their eighth WIAA football championship – to go along with eight WISAA titles. Stratford is going for their eighth championship – in the first appearance at state in 10 years.

HS Football News:

Fond du Lac senior Andrew Stone has been announced as the 2018 recipient of the Joe Thomas Award – which is given to the state’s top senior offensive lineman. Stone is a two-way standout who was a First Team All-Conference pick in the VFA-South as an offensive lineman the past two seasons, and was named the league Offensive Lineman of the Year this season. Stone was also recently given first team All-State honors by the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association.

Boys Soccer:

Winnebago Lutheran goalkeeper Kalan Narance was named to the All-State team by the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association. The junior had 118 saves in 24 games for the Vikings – allowing 26 goals in the season as WLA advanced to a regional final this year.

–Three different players – Markus Howard, Sam Hauser and Joey Hauser – each scored 18 points for the Golden Eagles in the loss.

–Paris Harris scored 13 points to lead the Sabres in the loss.

–Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 31 points, while Khris Middleton chipped in 25 in the loss for the Bucks at the Fiserv Forum. Milwaukee drops to 10-4 on the year, they host Chicago on Friday night.
