College Football:

12 Wisconsin football defensive players earned all-conference recognition by the Big Ten on Tuesday when the league announced their All-Conference lists for Defense and Special Teams. Leading the way were consensus first-team All-Big Ten selections linebacker TJ Edwards and cornerback Nick Nelson.

Safety D’Cota Dixon earned first team all Big Ten honors from conference coaches, and third team honors from the media. Defensive End Alec James and Kicker Rafael Gaglianone were consensus second team picks.

Defensive end Connor Sheehy and linebacker Garrett Dooley earned second team honors from the coaches and third team honors from the media. Cornerback Derrick Tindal earned third-team honors from the coaches, and was an honorable mention pick by the media.

Linebacker Ryan Connelly, safety Joe Ferguson, linebacker Leon Jacobs, safety Natrell Jamerson and nose tackle Olive Sagapolu were all consensus Honorable Mention All-Conference selections.

All-Big Ten teams for Offense will be announced today.

The Badger football team moves into the top four of this week’s College Football Playoff Rankings. The Badgers jump up one spot from number five after beating Minnesota 31-0 last Saturday to complete an unbeaten regular season. Clemson, Auburn and Oklahoma make up the rest of the top four. Alabama and Georgia are just outside the playoff heading into championship weekend. Wisconsin’s opponent in Saturday’s Big Ten Championship, Ohio State, sits at number eight in the rankings.
