High School Football Playoffs:

It’s round three of the WIAA High School Football playoffs tonight -

In Division Six - the number two seed St. Mary’s Springs travels to Racine Lutheran.

St. Mary’s Springs advanced to tonight’s matchup after a 48-0 win over Johnson Creek in Round Two. Racine Lutheran, meanwhile, ran over Cambridge to the tune of 55-7 in round two.

The Crusaders are led by Running Back Tyler Tenner - who last week became the state’s all-time leading rusher. Tenner had 23 carries for 237 yards and four touchdowns in the win - and has 6,903 yards for his career.

Our coverage begins at 6:30 tonight with kickoff at 7 pm on KFIZ

Division One:

Appleton North at Kimberly

Division Three:

Division Four:

Berlin at Kiel

College Football:

It’s a Big Ten West showdown at Camp Randall Stadium tomorrow as Wisconsin hosts Iowa in an elimination contest for the division title. The loser of the game has no shot at the top spot, but the winner gets to keep pace with Minnesota, who is unbeaten and faces off with #4 Penn State at 11 am Saturday. For Wisconsin, its another chance to add to their dominance of Iowa over the last decade - the Badgers have won three in a row and six of the last seven against the Hawkeyes, including last year’s win in Iowa City. For Iowa - it’s the last chance for senior quarterback Nate Stanley, a Menomonie, Wisconsin native, to get a win against his home-state team. Iowa is looking for its first Big Ten West title since 2015. Kickoff is 3 pm, coverage starts at 1 pm on KFIZ.

NFL:

Thursday Night Football:

Oakland 26, Los Angeles 24

--Raiders Rookie Josh Jacobs scored the go-ahead touchdown with just over a minute left to give Oakland the win.

Safety Adrian Amos has missed his second straight Packers practice, making it more likely he won't play in the Carolina game.  He’s dealing with a hamstring injury. At the same time, it’s possible Green Bay will get another defensive back ready to go. Cornerback Kevin King was limited Wednesday with an injured groin, but he was a full participant Thursday.  King played only 20 snaps in the Chargers loss. If Amos is out, his snaps will be absorbed by Chandon Sullivan, Will Redmond and probably Ibraheim Campbell. Amos had played 99 percent of the Packers defensive snaps through the first nine games.

Kyle Allen will be getting another start at quarterback for the Carolina Panthers Sunday when they visit Lambeau Field. Allen has thrown for close to 1,300 yards, nine touchdowns and four interceptions on the season in taking over for Cam Newton, who has been placed on injured reserve and is out for the rest of the year. Carolina is 5-1 since Allen took over as starter - and sits at 5-3 coming into Sunday’s game. The Packers are 7-2. Kickoff Sunday is at 3:25 pm.

Men’s College Basketball:

The Wisconsin Badgers play their home opener tonight - as they welcome Eastern Illinois to the Kohl Center. Wisconsin dropped their season opener Tuesday night to St. Mary’s, 65-63 in overtime. Eastern Illinois also lost their opener - falling by 25 points to #13 Texas Tech. Tipoff is 7 pm, no broadcast on KFIZ due to High School Football.

Women’s College Basketball:

Non-Conference:

Marquette 92, St. Francis (Brooklyn) 71

NBA:

The Bucks continue their road trip in Utah tonight against the Jazz. The Bucks are 6-2 through the first eight games of the season, having won four in a row. Utah is 5-3 in the first eight games of the year - and is 2-2 in their last four games. Tipoff is 8 pm, no broadcast on KFIZ due to High School Football.

MLB:

Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich has won the Sliver Slugger Award for the second straight year and third time overall. Despite having his season cut short by injury in September, Yelich led the National League with a .329 batting average and a .429 on base percentage, and led the majors with a .671 slugging percentage and an 11-hundred OPS.

NHL:

Chicago 5, Vancouver 2

San Jose 6, Minnesota 5
