Boys High School Basketball:

Seeding meetings were held over the weekend and area boys basketball teams now know where they will be playing for the opening round of the WIAA playoffs next week.

Division One:

Fond du Lac earned a number 10 seed and will travel to number seven seed Mequon Homestead on Friday, March 2nd.

Division Three:

Waupun earned a #1 seed in their regional and will play either Omro or Winneconne on Friday, March 2nd

Campbellsport earned a #5 seed and will host #12 seed Mayville on Tuesday, February 27th.

Lomira earned a #4 seed and will host the winner of the Campbellsport/Mayville game on Friday, March 2nd.

North Fond du Lac earned a #11 seed and will travel to #6 seed Ripon on Tuesday the 27th.

Laconia earned a #2 seed in the regional and will play either Columbus or Berlin on March 2nd.

Chilton earned a #10 seed and will travel to #7 seed Oostburg on Tuesday the 27th.

New Holstein earned a #2 seed and will face the winner of the Chilton/Oostburg game on Friday, March 2nd.

Kiel earned a #12 seed and will travel to #5 seed Denmark on Tuesday the 27th.

St. Lawrence Seminary earned a #13 seed and will travel to #4 seed Sheboygan Falls on Tuesday the 27th.

Division Four:

St. Mary’s Springs earned a #4 seed in their regional and will host #13 seed Montello on Tuesday the 27th.

Winnebago Lutheran earned a #4 seed in their regional and will play either #5 Manitowoc Lutheran or #12 Mishicot on Friday, March 2nd

Division Five:

Central Wisconsin Christian earned a #15 seed and will travel to #2 seed Pecatonica on Tuesday the 27th.

Oakfield is a #8 seed in their regional and will host #9 seed Stockbridge on Tuesday the 27th.

High School Wrestling:

A number of area wrestlers qualified for the State Individual Wrestling Tournament in Madison next weekend after a successful Sectional competition on Saturday.

In Division Two, state qualifiers from the area include:

Campbellsport: Dylan Bublitz – 113 pounds, Cade Heisdorf – 126 pounds, Taylor Heltemes – 138 pounds, Joe Lindsley – 170 pounds, Matt Koelbel – 182 pounds.

Chilton/Hilbert: Gaven Lisowe – 160 pounds

Kiel: Andrew Schad – 113 pounds, Alex Kleinhans – 152 pounds

Lomira: Matt Hanke – 195 pounds.

North Fond du Lac/St. Mary’s Springs: Andrew Forsythe – 145 pounds, Marcus Orlandoni – 195 pounds, Dakota Maas – 220 pounds.

St. Lawrence Seminary: Kelly Paulsen – 285 pounds

Ripon: Ryan Cody – 145 pounds

In Division Three, state qualifiers include:

Laconia: Zach Foth – 138 pounds.

Winnebago Lutheran: Grant Manke – 220 pounds, Ryan Jacobs – 285 pounds

The Badgers basketball team is back in action tonight taking on rival Minnesota from the Kohl Center. Wisconsin is coming off their big win over #6 Purdue Thursday night 57-53 while Minnesota lost to Michigan State last Tuesday by 30 points, 87-57. The Gophers have lost eight in a row and sit at 3-12 in conference and 14-14 overall. Wisconsin is 5-10 in Big Ten play and 12-16 overall. –Lebron James scored 29 points to lead his team to victory in the league’s All-Star game in Los Angeles. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 16 points in the loss for “Team Steph”, which was led by Warriors’ star Steph Curry.
