High School Hoops News:


Laconia’s Kiarra Otto was a unanimous first-team selection to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-State team in Division 3. The WBCA announced the all-state honors in all five divisions Monday. Her teammate, Alissa Dins was named honorable mention All-State, along with Waupun freshman Abbie Aalsma.

CBB News:


Wisconsin’s Ethan Happ was a unanimous first-team All-Big Ten selection when conference honors were announced on Monday. Happ was a first team selection by both the coaches and media voters, to become Wisconsin’s first three-time All-Big Ten honoree. In addition to Happ, D’Mitrik Trice earned honorable mention honors from the media, with Kahlil Iverson named a Sportsmanship Award honoree. Michigan State’s Cassius Winston was named the Big Ten Player of the Year, with Purdue’s Matt Painter named the Coach of the Year.


Wisconsin climbed two spots in both national polls this week. The Badgers jumped up to 19 in both the Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25 after wins over Iowa and Ohio State last week. Marquette, meanwhile, continued to fall. The Golden Eagles are down seven spots to number 23 in the AP Poll after losing their fourth game in a row.


Gonzaga, Virginia and North Carolina remain 1-2-3 atop the latest AP poll, but the rest of the 10 has changed. Kentucky is now up to fourth, followed by Duke at No. 5, with Michigan State, Texas Tech, Tennessee, LSU and Michigan rounding out the top 10.


NBA:


The Bucks are in New Orleans tonight to take on the Pelicans.  It's the middle stop on a three-game road trip that started with Sunday's loss at San Antonio. The Bucks still own the NBA's best record at 50-and-17, two-and-a-half games ahead of Toronto in the Eastern Conference. New Orleans is 16 & ½ games out of first in the west with a 30-39 record. 6:30 broadcast time, 7 pm tipoff - listen on KFIZ and the Bucks Radio Network.


MLB Spring Training:


Milwaukee 8, Chicago White Sox 5

--Lorenzo Cain and Christian Yelich each had two hits as the Brewers won their fifth straight game in Cactus League play. Milwaukee plays San Francisco tonight


NFL:


The Packers are keeping wide receiver Jake Kumerow. ESPN reports the Packers have tendered the UW-Whitewater alumnus a contract. They are also expected to tender a contract to exclusive rights free-agent linebacker Reggie Gilbert before the NFL free-agent signing period starts tomorrow.


NHL:
