High School Basketball:

Laconia’s Kiarra Otto and Waupun’s Sydney Flier were named to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-State team in Division Three. Otto averaged 16.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 4.4 steals and 1.1 blocks per game in.helping lead Laconia to a perfect regular season record and appearance in the Sectional Finals. Flier averaged 17.5 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2 blocks per game for Waupun, helping the Warriors to an appearance in the sectional semifinals.

St. Mary’s Springs senior Emily Mueller was named to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches All-State team in Division Four. Mueller averaged 15 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.5 blocks per game for the Ledgers this season, helping lead Springs to a 22-3 record and an appearance in the sectional semifinals.

NBA:

Milwaukee 121, Memphis 103

–Khris Middleton scored 24 points, Giannis Antetokounmpo added 20 for the Bucks in the win over the slumping Grizzlies. Brandon Jennings posted a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds off the bench in his return to action for Milwaukee. Memphis has lost 18 games in a row and sports a league-worst record of 18-49. The Bucks are 36-31 and move back into the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference with the win. Milwaukee travels to Orlando on Wednesday.

College Basketball:

The NCAA Tournament begins tonight with the start of the “First Four”, opening round games played in Dayton, Ohio. The first game of the night features a pair of #16 seeds as LIU-Brooklyn and Radford square off with a date with #1 seed Villanova Thursday on the horizon. The second game features a pair of 11 seeds as UCLA takes on St. Bonaventure. The winner of that contest will take on #6 seed Florida on Thursday. The 64-team Women’s Basketball tournament field was announced Monday and two Wisconsin teams heard their names called. The Green Bay Phoenix women earned a number seven seed in the Spokane regional and will play #10 seed Minnesota in the opening round. Marquette earned an at-large bid out of the Big East as a #8 seed in the Lexington regional and will play #9 seed Dayton on Friday afternoon in the opening round.

College Baseball:

–The Sabres will face Greenville College this afternoon in Tucson.

MLB Spring Training:

Milwaukee 7, LA Dodgers 6

–The Brewers play Texas today.

Brewers manager Craig Counsell named Chase Anderson the Opening Day starter for his team’s opener March 29th in San Diego. Anderson went 12-4 with a 2.74 ERA in 25 starts last season, striking out 133 batters and walking just 41 in 141 and ⅓ innings.
