HS Basketball:

The WIAA Boys State Basketball Tournament continues today at the Kohl Center in Madison. Valders and Prescott advanced to Championship Saturday with wins in the D-3 semifinals Thursday, with Roncalli and Marathon moving on to Saturday in Division 4. Action gets underway with the D5 semifinals this morning with DIvisions Two and One to follow this afternoon and tonight.

College Basketball:

The UW-Oshkosh Men’s Basketball team makes their first-ever appearance in the Final Four of the Division Three Men’s Basketball Tournament later this afternoon. The Titans will play Ramapo College of New Jersey in one of the National Semifinals in Salem, Virginia. Tipoff is 4pm central time, the winner advances to Saturday’s Championship game.

The second day of the NCAA Tournament continues today with 16 more games played in Charlotte, Detroit, San Diego and Nashville. Two more Big Ten teams are in action today as #2 seed Purdue faces #15 seed Cal State-Fullerton and #3 seed Michigan State takes on #14 seed Bucknell. NFL News:

It didn’t take long for former Packers receiver Jordy Nelson to find a new home. NFL.com and ESPN both reported Thursday that Nelson will sign with the Oakland Raiders on a two-year deal. The contract is worth a reported $15 million dollars with $13 million guaranteed. Nelson was released by Green Bay Tuesday. He was set to make $9.25 million in base salary and count $12.5 million against the salary cap this year. The 32-year-old Nelson caught 53 passes for 482 yards and six touchdowns last year.

The Minnesota Vikings officially introduced Kirk Cousins as their new quarterback Thursday. Cousins and the reigning NFC North Champions reportedly agreed to a three-year contract worth $84 million fully guaranteed. Cousins threw for over 4,000 yards along with 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in Washington last season, as the Redskins went 7-9.
