Boys High School Basketball:

Two teams from the Fox Valley Association brought home gold trophies after winning boys basketball State Championships over the weekend. In Division One, Oshkosh North defeated Brookfield East 61-44 behind 30 points from Tyrese Haliburton. Haliburton was a perfect 18-for-18 from the free throw line in the win for the Spartans in winning their first State Championship. In Division Two, Kaukauna defeated Milwaukee Washington 76-74 to claim their second gold ball in three years. Jordan McCabe, this year’s Mr. Basketball in the state, closed out his high school career with 32 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds and made the game-winning basket with four seconds left. Prescott, Roncalli and Bangor were crowned as champions in the other divisions.

NIT – Second Round:

Marquette 101, Oregon 92

–Andrew Rowsey scored 29 points, making six three pointers in the win for Marquette as they advance to the NIT quarterfinals. The Golden Eagles will host #4 seed Penn State, who upset #1 seed Notre Dame on Saturday.

–Christian Yelich went 2 for 2 with a home run and three RBI in the win for the Brewers. Milwaukee is off today and plays Colorado tomorrow.
