St. Mary’s Springs won the Flyway Conference Mini Meet at Utica Golf Club Thursday. The Ledgers shot a 144 as a team with Owen Ahern earning medalist honors with a 34. Mayville finished second (186), Lomira third (191), Omro fourth (192), Winnebago Lutheran fifth (199), Laconia sixth (240).

NFL Draft:

The Packers traded down, then back up in Thursday’s first round of the NFL Draft before selecting some much needed defensive help. Green Bay held the #14 overall pick, then traded that plus a late-round pick this year to New Orleans for the #27 overall pick and a first round pick in next year’s draft. Then, Green Bay traded the #27 pick to Seattle to move back up to #18 and select cornerback Jaire Alexander of Louisville. Alexander is 5’10” and 196 pounds and ran a 4.38 40 yard dash at the NFL combine. Alexander played in just six games last year because of injury. His best season at Louisville came in 2016, where he earned second team all ACC honors, with five interceptions and nine pass break ups in 13 starts.

Cleveland selected Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield with the #1 overall pick. Penn State running back Saquon Barkley went #2 to the New York Giants, while the New York Jets took USC quarterback Sam Darnold at #3.

–The Brewers totaled six hits in the game, but couldn’t push across any runs as they were blanked by the Cubs at Wrigley Field to snap an eight-game win streak. Ryan Braun and Domingo Santana each collected two hits for the Brewers, who were 0-3 with runners in scoring position. Game two of the series is this afternoon, coverage on KFIZ and the Brewers Radio Network starts at 12:45, first pitch at 1:20 pm.

–Giannis Antetokounmpo had 31 points and 14 rebounds as the Bucks forced a game seven in their first round series with the Celtics. Malcolm Brogdon and Khris Middleton each had 16 in the win for Milwaukee, while Boston was led by 22 from Jayson Tatum. Game seven is Saturday night in Boston.
