Boys Golf:

WIAA State Tournament:

Division One:

Fond du Lac is in second place after day one of the WIAA State Tournament at University Ridge Golf Course near Madison. The Cardinals shot a 305 as a team, with Elliot Nielsen shooting a 73 to lead the team on day one and is in sixth place individually. Jack DuChateau and Jonah Duwell each scored a 76, while Sam Nielsen and Seb Hoban each had an 80 for Fondy. Marquette University HS is in the lead with a 299, with Middleton and Arrowhead tied for third.

Division 2:

Waupun is in seventh place after day one of the WIAA State Tournament at University Ridge. The Warriors shot a 342 as a team in the first round, with Ty Flegner leading the way individually with an 84.

Division 3:

St. Mary’s Springs is in the driver’s seat in Division Three after day one of the State Tournament. The Ledgers shot a 329 as a team on day one, to sit 18 shots ahead of second place Madison Abundant Life. Doyle Kelly is in first place individually with a three-over par 75, Owen Ahern is 13th with an 83, Dawson Sarauer tied for 17th with an 85, Colin Ahern tied for 20th with an 86, and Ben Hintze is tied for 30th with a 92.

Divisions two and three tee off at 7am today, while division one tees off at Noon on day two.

High School Baseball:

WIAA Division Three Sectionals (At Markesan):

Laconia vs. Gibraltar/Washington Island (9:30 AM)

Winner plays either Living Word Lutheran or Kenosha St. Joe’s in the sectional championship game for a trip to state at 3:30 pm.

WIAA Division Two Sectionals (At Ripon):

–The winner plays either Catholic Memorial or Martin Luther in the Sectional Championship game for a trip to state at 4:30 pm.

–Alex Henwood went 4 for 5 with a triple, while Mitch Boe added two hits in his Dock Spiders debut in the loss at Herr Baker Field. Former Fond du Lac High School athlete Austin Wagner, who attends Ellsworth Community College in Iowa recently signed with the Dock Spiders and saw his first action in Monday’s game. Wagner threw an inning and ⅔, allowing two hits and striking out one. Fondy hits the road for a six game road trip tonight, with a game in Wausau against the Woodchucks. First pitch is 6:35 pm.

The Brewers open a two-game series with the Cleveland Indians tonight in Cleveland. Milwaukee is 37-23, good for first place in the National League Central, two games ahead of the Chicago Cubs. Cleveland is 30-28, good for first place in the American League Central, three games up on Detroit. Junior Guerra gets the start for the Brewers, while the Indians counter with one of their aces, Corey Kluber. Coverage starts at 5:35 pm, first pitch after 6:05 on KFIZ.
