–Aaron Anderson went 2-for-4 with a home run as the Dock Spiders topped the Woodchucks in Wausau Monday night. Luke Robinson added a solo home run in the win for Fondy, while Aaron Funk was a strikeout machine on the mound – notching 11 strikeouts in six innings of work. The two teams play again this afternoon – first pitch is 11:35 AM at Herr-Baker Field, listen on KFIZ and KFIZ.com

NWL News: 

Five Fond du Lac Dock Spiders players have been selected to participate in the Northwoods League “Major League Dreams Showcase” on August 6th. Position players Tate Kolwyck, Sam Novitske and Kellen Sarver along with pitchers Aaron Funk and Aaron Ball will take part in a day of workouts in front of Major League Baseball scouts and play in a doubleheader game at Warner Park in Madison. The Dock Spiders are set to play in the second game of the day – which is scheduled for 7:35 pm.

–Eugenio Suarez blasted a two-run home run in the ninth inning – his second two-run shot of the night – as the Reds defeated the Brewers at Miller Park. The Brewers went in front 5-4 in the eighth inning on Tyler Saladino’s second Grand Slam in as many days, but Jeremy Jeffress gave up an infield single to Nick Senzel, then with two outs surrendered the home run to Suarez. Game two of the series is tonight – Zach Davies gets the start for the Brewers, with Tanner Roark going for Cincinnati. Coverage starts at 6:35 pm, first pitch at 7:10 on KFIZ.

MLB News: 

Brewers second baseman Keston Hiura has earned National League Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career. Hiura has 20 extra-base hits – including nine homers – in over 155 plate appearances in his first 37 games at the Major League level. He’s the second Brewer to win NL Player of the Week honors in 2019 – alongside Christian Yelich, who’s won it twice.

NBA: 

The Milwaukee Bucks have announced their preseason schedule for the 2019-2020 season. Milwaukee opens the preseason on the road in Chicago on October 7th and will play two games at Fiserv Forum – October 9th against Utah and October 17th against Minnesota. Road dates at Dallas (October 11th) and at Washington (October 13th) round out the schedule.
