NWL News:

Three Fond du Lac Dock Spiders players have been selected to take part in the Northwoods League’s annual Major League Dreams Showcase. First baseman Cole Zabowski along with pitchers Jon Mierzwa and Jacob Kostyshock will all be part of the showcase at Warner Park in Madison on August 7th. Players will take part in a day of workouts in front of MLB scouts and then play in a doubleheader featuring the top players in the Northwoods League. Last year, Nick Fortes and Brandon Wulff represented Fondy in the showcase – Fortes went on to be drafted in the fourth round of this year’s draft by Miami.

Milwaukee 5, LA Dodgers 2

–Eric Thames blasted a three-run home run in the third inning that helped the Brewers take game one of their series against the Dodgers in Los Angeles Monday night. Christian Yelich extended his hitting streak to 14 games with a lead-off double. Game two of the series is tonight, coverage starts at 8:35 on KFIZ with first pitch at 9:10 pm.

MLB News:

Christian Yelich was named the National League Player of the Week Monday. He currently sports a 14-game hitting streak and batted .517 with eight runs scored, three doubles, a triple, three home runs and 10 RBI across seven games. It’s Yelich’s first “player of the week” award.
