--The Cardinals got wins from their #1 singles player Kellie Hierl and #1 doubles team of Carly Paulson and Anna Mauthe in the loss to the Spartans.


Mayville 5, St. Mary’s Springs 2

--The Ledgers got wins from #1 singles player Isa Hopper and #1 doubles team of Haley Franz and Samantha Brannen in the loss to the Cardinals


Major League Baseball


National League:


Milwaukee 3, Chicago Cubs 2

--The Brewers are now just one game back of the Cubs in the National League Central after the win Monday night in the series opener at Wrigley Field. Mike Moustakas scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning on a wild pitch by Cubs reliever Carl Edwards Jr. Lorenzo Cain had four hits on offense for the Brewers, with Wade Miley improving to 4-2 after picking up the win, Jeremy Jeffress had his 11th save of the season in the victory. Game two of the series is tonight - coverage starts at 6:30 on KFIZ.

College Football:


Badgers running back Jonathan Taylor was named the Big Ten Conference Offensive Player of the Week, after setting career highs in carries and rushing yards in Saturday’s win over New Mexico. Taylor ran the ball 33 times for 253 yards and three touchdowns in the 45-14 triumph at Camp Randall Stadium. The award is Taylor’s third career Offensive Player of the Week honor.


The Badgers will open Big Ten play under the lights in Iowa City next Saturday night. The conference announced kickoff times for games in week four, and the Badgers and Iowa Hawkeyes will do battle at 7:30 pm next Saturday, September 22nd at Kinnick Stadium. Wisconsin has won five of the last six in the battle for the Heartland Trophy with Iowa - including last year’s 38-14 win in Madison.


NFL:


NY Jets 48, Detroit 17

--Lions quarterbacks combined to throw five interceptions in the loss, with Matthew Stafford tossing four of those picks to go along with one touchdown. The Lions tied the game at 17 early in the third quarter, but the Jets scored 31 unanswered points to close out the win.


LA Rams 33, Oakland 13

--The Rams trailed 13-10 at halftime, but outscored the Raiders 23-0 the rest of the way in the win
