–Padres shortstop Seth Mejias-Brean hit a two-run home run in the third inning that proved to be the difference as San Diego won game three of the series with the Brewers at Miller Park Wednesday night. The Brewers got a solo home run from Keston Hiura in the sixth inning for their only run of the game. Both Milwaukee and the Chicago Cubs are three games back of St. Louis in the division race, and are tied for the second wild card spot, one-and-a-half games back of Washington. Jordan Lyles gets the start for the Brewers against Joey Lucchesi for San Diego in game four this afternoon. Coverage starts at 2:35 pm, first pitch is 3:10 on KFIZ.

The Green Bay Packers are expected to turn over the kick return game to Tremon Smith for kickoffs and rookie Darrius Shepherd for punts.  Those moves will be made after Wednesday’s announced trade of veteran kick return specialist Trevor Davis to the Oakland Raiders. Davis had been getting glowing evaluations from Packer coaches, but he only played four snaps against Minnesota.  Green Bay reportedly will receive a sixth-round draft pick. Smith had been claimed on waivers from Kansas City Monday.

College Football: 

The Wisconsin football team has extended a scholarship offer to the son of a former Green Bay Packers great. Cristian Driver, the son of former Packers receiver Donald Driver, announced on Twitter this week that he had received an offer from the Badgers. Driver is a sophomore defensive back at Liberty Christian High School in Argyle, Texas. Driver already holds offers from a number of schools – including Michigan, Ohio State, Minnesota, LSU, Oklahoma and Texas
