St. Mary’s Springs 3, Laconia 2 (15-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-18, 15-8)

–Katie Baker had 23 digs and six aces for Springs, Isabelle Coon added 23 assists while Gracie Rieder had 14 kills for Springs. Laconia was led by Hailey Bartz – who had 34 assists, Taylor VandeBerg added 14 kills, Haley Rens had 47 digs.

Lomira 3, Omro 0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-15)

–Gwen Prunty had 16 assists and five aces, Autumn Schrauth and Kylie Neill each had seven kills for Lomira in the win

Girls Tennis:

Fond du Lac finished in a tie for fourth place at the FVA Conference Meet on Thursday. Maddie Kleinke took first place at #2 singles to highlight the Cardinals day at the meet.

HIgh School Football:

Two more Fond du Lac area football players were named as semi-finalists for postseason awards to be handed out by WisSports.net. Fond du Lac defensive back Drew Bonlander was named a semifinalist for the Jim Leonhard Award – which is given to the state’s top senior defensive back. Meanwhile, St. Mary’s Springs defensive lineman Jacob Schrauth has been named a finalist for the Tim Krumrie Award – which is given to the state’s top senior Defensive Lineman. Schrauth is also a semifinalist for the Joe Thomas Award – which is given to the state’s top offensive lineman.

–The Cubs now lead the Brewers by a full game in the NL Central heading into the final weekend of the regular season.

American League:

Minnesota 9, Detroit 3

Interleague:

The Brewers begin their final series of the regular season, looking to carry more momentum into the playoffs, as they welcome the Detroit Tigers to town for a three game set. Milwaukee will send Zach Davies to the hill, while the Tigers counter with Wisconsin native and UW-Stevens Point graduate Jordan Zimmerman. First pitch is 7:10 pm, no broadcast on KFIZ because of High School Football.

NFL:

LA Rams 38, Minnesota 31

–Jared Goff threw for 465 yards and five touchdowns as the Rams beat the Vikings on Thursday Night Football. Kirk Cousins added 422 yards passing and three touchdowns for the Vikings, who drop to 1-2-1 on the year. Minnesota visits Philadelphia next Sunday.
