Girls Volleyball:

Laconia took first place at the Oshkosh North tournament. The Spartans defeated Waupaca (25-22, 25-23), Roncalli (25-19, 25-13) and Edgerton (7-25, 25-23, 15-10) to win pool play, then defeated Green Bay NEW Lutheran (25-15, 23-25 and 15-9) and Edgerton again (25-23, 10-25, 15-10) to win the championship.

Haley Rens had 145 digs, Alissa Dins – 23 digs, 15 blocks, 4 aces and 11 kills, Lexi Smit added 49 assists, while Kennedy Krohn totaled 40 digs, 13 aces, 8 blocks and 20 kills for Laconia on the day

–Christian Yelich homered twice, including a solo shot in the seventh inning that put the Brewers ahead for good in the win over the Tigers at Miller Park Saturday night. Corey Knebel and Jeremy Jeffress struck out the side in the eighth and ninth innings respectively to seal the win. The Brewers are now TIED with the Cubs for the NL Central lead. A win for the Brewers and a Cubs loss on Sunday would mean the Brewers win the division. A win by both teams means a tiebreaker game Monday at Wrigley Field.
