The Green Bay Packers should be at nearly full strength for tonight's 2019 N-F-L season opener.  Ceremonies will honor 100 years of professional football. Only one expected starter -- linebacker Oren Burks -- has been ruled out for the contest at Soldier Field in Chicago.  Rookie cornerback Ka'Dar Hollman is listed as questionable and every other Packer who has been "dinged up" during training camp should be ready to go against the Bears. Wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown is out for the year and rookie tight end Jace Sternberger joins him on injured reserve.

Kickoff tonight is 7:20 pm - listen on our sister station, 107.1 WFON starting at 5 pm.

College Football:

The Wisconsin Badgers football team is a solid choice to go 2-0 to start the season with Central Michigan coming to town.  The Chippewas are the opposition in U-W's home opener at Camp Randall Stadium Saturday. Central Michigan also comes in with a victory in its first game, 38-21 over Albany, but the Chippewas were just one-and-11 last season. Wisconsin is a 34-point favorite.  The Badgers have won 32-out-of-34 games against teams from the Mid-American Conference. Saturday’s game starts at 2:30 pm, listen on KFIZ starting at 12:30.

Major League Baseball:

The Brewers begin a four-game series against the Chicago Cubs tonight at Miller Park. The two teams just met a week ago, with the Brewers taking two of three on the road at Wrigley Field, picking up back-to-back shutouts against the Cubs on Saturday and Sunday. Milwaukee split a two-game series with Houston to begin the week, while the Cubs swept Seattle in a two-game series on Monday and Tuesday. This series marks the last regular season series between the Brewers and Cubs for 2019. Coverage starts at 5:35 tonight - first pitch at 6:10 on KFIZ.

National League:

Cincinnati 8, Philadelphia 5

Pittsburgh 6, Miami 5

American League:

Cleveland 8, Chicago White Sox 6

Boston 6, Minnesota 2

Kansas City 5, Detroit 4

The Milwaukee Common Council is giving the green light to a 400-thousand-dollar offer to settle a lawsuit filed by Milwaukee Bucks guard Sterling Brown.  The resolution passed Wednesday morning on a 12-2 vote and Brown has 14 days to accept or decline the offer. Brown was arrested and tased by Milwaukee police in January of 2018 after illegally parking in a handicapped spot at a Walgreens. Officers say they took him down and used a stun gun because he didn't remove his hands from his pockets right away.  Brown's civil rights suit claims he was targeted because he's black. Attorney Mark Thomsen said the city's offer was insufficient because it doesn't include an admission of guilt.
