Laconia Boys Fall In Sectional Final

The Laconia Spartans perfect season came to an end on Saturday afternoon in the Division Four Sectional Final, falling to Whitefish Bay Dominican 56-39 at Brookfield Central High School.  The Spartans jumped out to a 5-0 lead early before Dominican rallied to tie the game at 12 after one.  Brett Wittchow scored six in the 2nd quarter as Laconia built a 23-20 lead at the half.  In the 2nd half, Dominican’s stars took over as senior guard Duane Wilson and sophomore center Diamond Stone combined to score 24 of the team’s 32 points. Wilson, a Marquette recruit, scored 13 of his game high 24 in the 2nd half while Diamond Stone, considered the #1 sophomore prospect in the nation, had 11 of his 13 after halftime.  Wilson had 9 and Stone had 5 in the 4th quarter as Dominican out scored Laconia 20-7 in the final quarter.  Tyler Semenas finished the game with 15 points.  Laconia’s year ends at 25-1. Dominican advances to the state tournament with a record of 22-4.
