Lady Ledgers Advance to State
Trailing by nine at halftime, the St. Mary Springs' Ledgers girls came out on a 7-0 run to start the second half en route to a 55-46 victory over Whitefish Bay Dominican in Oconomowoc on Saturday night. The win sends Mitch Redig's team to the State Tournament for the first time since joining the WIAA. Kelli Schrauth lead the way with 19 points for the Ledgers, while Eleanore Mueller backed her up with 15 points.
For the Ledgers, it was all about trying to shut down Dominican junior Allazia Blockton, who came into the game averaging 24.4 points a game. Blockton controlled the offense and defense for Dominican for 31 minutes before fouling out with under a minute to play. From there, St. Mary's Springs extended on their three point lead with free throws to ice the game and earn a trip to Green Bay this Thursday night where they will face Algoma.
