Ledger Girls Fall in State Semifinals

Defending state champion Cuba
City stopped the St. Mary’s Spring
girls basketball team 62-56 in the WIAA Division Two State Semifinals on
Thursday night at the Resch Center in Green
Bay
Cuba City
led 16-14 after one quarter and trailed 28-18 with 4:37 left in the 2nd
quarter. The Ledgers went on an 8-0 run to get back into the game and trailed
just 31-28 at the break.  St. Mary’s Springs could never catch Cuba City in the 2nd
half and trailed by as many as 12 in the 4th quarter before falling
by six points.  Senior Kelli Schrauth led
all scorers with 25 points and 12 rebounds. 
Liz Bohn added 13 and Destiny Ottery 8. 
St. Mary’s Springs season ends at
24-3.  Cuba City
(27-0) advances to the D4 state title game on Saturday against Fall Creek.
