Ledgers Advance To D6 Semifinals
The St. Mary’s Springs Academy football team advanced to the WIAA Division Six State Semifinals with a 24-0 win over Shiocton at Fruth Field on Saturday night. The Ledgers took a 3-0 lead at the 8:42 mark of the first quarter when Mitch Herron connected on a 32 yard field. That came off of a Shiocton turnover when their return man fumble a punt. At the 7:52 mark of the 2nd quarter, the Ledgers got on the board again when Evan Henderson hit Ryan Grandlic up the left sideline for a 24-yard score to make it 10-0. Grandlic made it 17-0 at the 1:06 mark of the 3rd quarter when he picked off his 2nd pass of the night and weaved his way to the end zone for a 62 yard TD. The Ledgers final score of the night came with 2:36 left in the fourth quarter when Henderson hit Eric Feldner for a 22 yard TD. The win improves St. Mary’s Springs to 11-0 on the season. They will travel to Middleton next weekend for a Division Six State Semifinal matchup with Iowa-Grant who beat Darlington 32-15. That games date and kickoff time has not yet been determined.
