Ledgers Back In State Title Game

St. Mary’s Springs earned their fourth straight trip to a WIAA State Football Championship with a 54-14 win over Iowa-Grant in the Division Six Semifinals on Saturday night in Middleton.  This game was never in doubt as St. Mary’s Springs built a 48-0 halftime lead.  Ike Floyd ran for 138 yards and TDs of 2, 1, 53, and 4 yards in one half of play.  Senior Darin Ward ran for TDs of 39 and 6 yards and caught a 26 yard TD pass from Evan Henderson in the first half. Ward finished with 96 yards rushing and 26 yards receiving all in the first half. Iowa-Grant only totaled 19 yards of offense in the first half.   The Panthers scored two 3rd quarter touchdowns against the Ledgers reserves, before St. Mary’s Springs freshman Tyler Wiza rounded out the scoring with a short TD run late in the game.  The win improves, St. Mary’s Springs to 12-0 on the season.  They will play Eau Claire Regis on Thursday afternoon at 1pm at Madison’s Camp Randall Stadium in the Division Six State Title Game.  Coverage will begin at 12:05pm with the Backyard Grill Pregame Show.  The broadcast is presented by BCI Burke Company, Taco Bell, and Immel Insurance and Financial Services.
