Ledgers Fall At Fruth

 

The Amherst Falcons came to Fruth Field and beat St. Mary’s Springs Academy 39-14 on Saturday
afternoon.  The Falcons, ranked #1 in the
wissports.net Division Five Coaches Poll. 
Amherst QB Garrett Groshek ran for a touchdown and threw another as St.
Mary’s Springs lost on their home field for the 1st time since
2007.  Amherst scored on their 1st possession
of the game when Groshek hit Josh Ciseweski on a 45 yard TD pass over the
middle of the field. St. Mary’s Springs was
able to pull even at 7-7 when quarterback Blake Bauer took the option around
the right side 80 yards for a touchdown early in the 2nd quarter.  Amherst
answered with a 1 yard TD run and led the rest of the way.  A pair of TD runs by Brandon Piotrowski
pushed the Falcon lead to 26-6 before Flinton Floyd scored the other Ledger touchdown on a 3 yard run late in
the 3rd quarter. The Ledgers are ranked #1 in the wissports.net Divisoin Six Coaches Poll.  The last St. Mary’s
Springs loss at Fruth Field came on October 17th, 2007 when WLA beat
the Ledgers 28-14 at Fruth.  St. Mary’s Springs (1-1) heads to Ozaukee next Friday
night.
