Ledgers Like Ike On Homecoming!

St. Mary’s Springs took control of the Flyway Conference with a 37-13 win over Laconia at Fruth Field on Saturday afternoon.  Ledger senior Ike Floyd dazzled the Homecoming crowd by rushing unofficially for 325 yards and 5 touchdowns.  Floyd put St. Mary’s Springs up early with a 55 yard TD run at the 2:57 mark of the 1st quarter.  The extra point was missed and the Ledgers led 6-0.  At the 6:52 mark of the 2nd quarter Zach Hintze drilled a 31 yard field goal to make it 9-0.  Floyd busted the game open a few minutes later when he raced 80 yards for his 3rd TD of the game making it 16-0 at the half.  At the 3:45 mark of the 3rd quarter, Floyd punched it in from 1 yard out after a 48 yard run by Alec Strigenz put the Ledgers on the doorstep making it 23-0.  Laconia wouldn’t back down though as Levin Vande Berg punched it in from 3 yards out to make it 23-6.  The Spartans cut the Ledger lead to ten with 5:25 left in the 4th quarter when Nick Vollmer hit Austin Jackson on a 28 yard TD pass.  Just a few minutes later Floyd scored his 4th TD of the game from 55 yards out to push the lead to 30-13.  Floyd added his 5th TD with 1:14 left in the game from 10 yards out.  Floyd went over the 1,000 yard mark on the season as did Laconia’s Vande Berg who rushed for 115 yards on 22 carries.  Vollmer threw for 207 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions.  Springs improves to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the Flyway Conference.  They travel to North Fond du Lac next Friday night.  You’ll hear that game on K107.1-FM.  Laconia drops to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in conference action.  They travel to Omro next Friday. St. Mary's Springs has now won 33 straight games.

Boy I bet if Laconia would have beat them there wouldn't be no big headlines about that right?
