Ledgers Perfect Again!

St. Mary’s Springs won their 36th straight game and completed another perfect season with a 49-7 win over cross-town rival WLA on Thursday night at Fruth Field.  The Ledgers jumped out to a 14-0 lead on TD runs by Sam Spranger and Zach McLaughlin in the 1st quarter.  WLA then cut that lead in half when Brandon Schilling hit Mitch McFarlane on an 80 yard TD pass with 1:58 left in the 1st quarter.  Springs though countered just :49 seconds later as Ike Floyd went 58 yards for a touchdown.  Floyd ran for two more scores in the 2nd quarter.  Collin Ottery caught a 7 yard TD pass and McLaughlin ran one in from 3 yards out pushing the Ledger lead to 49-7 at the half and that’s how it ended with running clock in the 2nd half.  Floyd finished the day with 166 rushing yards and 3 TDs.  On the season he has 1805 yards rushing and 31 TDs.  Mitch McFarlane caught 3 passes for 113 yards and a TD to lead WLA.  The Ledger are 9-0 on the season and will get a #1 seed and a home game in the opening round of the playoffs.  WLA finishes the regular season at 5-4 overall and 4-3 in the Flyway.  They will likely head on the road for the first round of the playoffs.  Pairings will come out on Saturday with the first round games on Friday night, October 25th.
