Ledgers Take Round 1 of City Rivalry

The St. Mary’s Springs boys basketball team rallied by cross-town rival WLA 44-34 on Thursday night at the Hutter Gym.   WLA jumped out to a 14-4 lead after one quarter but then got outscored 40-20 the rest of the way.  SMSA turned it over just 1 time in the 2nd half and made 12 of 14 free throws in the 4th quarter to hang on for the win.  Ledger senior Collin Ottery led all scorers with 21.  Cory Nies added 10.  Mitch McFarlane led the Vikings with 18.  Tim Edwards added 7.  WLA (7-5, 3-3) heads to Lomira on Tuesday night.  St. Mary’s Springs (8-3, 5-1) hits the road to Omro on Tuesday.
