Media Pick Michigan, Nebraska to Sit Atop Big Ten Football Divisions

Big Ten Football Media Days begins in Chicago today, and ahead of the start of festivities today and tomorrow in the Windy City, the annual preseason Big Ten Media Poll is out thanks to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. The paper polls 34 writers from around the conference, and has each year since the Big Ten did away with their preseason media poll ahead of the 2011 season.

The media this season picked Michigan to win the East Division, with Ohio State in second place. The Wolverines picked up 20 first place votes, with the Buckeyes earning 14. In the West Division, the media picked Nebraska to edge out Iowa for the division title. The Huskers and Hawkeyes each got 14 first place votes, but Nebraska got 198 overall points to Iowa’s 194.5. Wisconsin was picked third – but received four first place votes. Northwestern and Minnesota each picked up one first place vote.

Badgers head coach Paul Chryst is scheduled to speak tomorrow morning at Media Days.
