Oakfield & Waupun: State Softball Runner-Ups

The Oakfield softball team’s bid for back
to back WIAA Division Four State Championships came up just short on Saturday
afternoon as they lost to Stevens Point Pacelli 1-0.  Oakfield put the lead-off runner on base in
the 1st six innings but could never find the way to plate a
run.   Pacelli scored the game’s only run
in the bottom of the 6th when Sarah Mitch singled home Sami Kay
Shafranski.  Oakfield’s Brianna Sabel
tripled in the 7th but did not score.  Oakfield won their D4 Semifinal on Saturday
morning 6-4 over Juda/Albany in 8 innings.
The Oaks scored 3 in the top of the 8th to advance to the
title game. Their season ends at 26-4.

in Division Two as they were blanked by LaCrosse Logan 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.  Logan’s
Jordyn Kleman struck out 11 and gave up just three hits in the complete game
win.  Kleman also hit a solo homer in the
5th for Logan.  The Warriors advanced to the state final with a two run rally in the bottom of the 7th on Friday afternoon to top Beloit Turner 5-4. Waupun’s season ends at 27-5.

Lomira’s dropped their Division Three
Semifinal on Friday night in heart-breaking fashion 4-3 to Poynette.  The Puma’s Dani Treinen belted a walk-off
solo home run in the bottom of the 7th to win the game. The game
ended about 11:30pm on Friday night.   The Lions’ season ends at 19-7.
