Saturday’s High School Sports Results:

8-Man Football:

Oakfield 51, McDonell Central 12

–Javaun Mielke had 15 carries for 170 yards and two touchdowns in the win for Oakfield

Girls Volleyball:

Fond du Lac took first place at their home invite, going 5-0 with wins over Denmark, Grafton, Manitowoc Lincoln, Menasha and Oshkosh North

St. Mary’s Springs took first place at the Shiocton Invite – going 8-0 with wins over Bonduel, Shiocton, Waupaca, Algoma, Howards Grove, Kewaunee, Manitowoc Lutheran and Mishicot.  

Laconia took first place at the Dodgeland Tournament, defeating Pardeeville (25-10, 25-9), Eastbrook Academy (25-11, 25-13) and Poynette (25-16, 25-19) to win their pool. The Spartans then defeated Cambridge (25-19, 25-9) and Manawa (25-19, 25-17) in the championship bracket to win the tournament.

Waupun finished in second place at the Ripon Invitational. The Warriors defeated Ripon (25-22, 25-12), Omro (25-13, 25-8), lost to Southern Door (11-25, 25-27) and defeated Green Bay West (25-8, 25-13).

Winnebago Lutheran went 1-4 at the Wautoma Invite on Saturday. The Vikings defeated Wild Rose (25-12, 25-23) and lost to Wautoma (23-25, 9-25), Rosholt (25-19, 19-25, 19-20), Brillion (7-25, 25-23, 10-15) and Weyauwega-Fremont (27-25, 20-25, 7-15)

Boys Soccer:

DeForest 3, Fond du Lac 1

Winnebago Lutheran took first place in their bracket at the Sheboygan North Tournament. The Vikings defeated Sheboygan South in their first game 1-0 and won 2-0 over Racine Horlick to win the title. Carter Sampson had a goal in each of the wins for WLA.

Waupun went 1-1 at their home tournament, losing to Oostburg 2-0 and defeating West Bend East 3-0. Baron Buchholz scored twice in the win for the Warriors.

Cross Country:

The Fond du Lac boys and girls cross country teams competed at the Matt Hadler Invitational at Menomonee Falls Saturday. The boys finished 15th with a 362, Charlie Quast had the highest finish for the Fondy boys – placing 59th with a time of 18:17.75. The Fondy girls took third place with a 123 – Riley Collett took second place individually with a time of 19:11.13 to lead the Cardinals.

St. Mary’s Springs boys and girls cross country teams competed at the Roncalli Invitational on Saturday. The boys took fourth place with a 102, Isaac Shannon was the meet medalist with a time of 17:39.14. The Ledger Girls took seventh place at Roncalli with a 154. Lizzie Guerin took sixth place individually with a time of 22:31.77
