WIAA Girls Volleyball Tournament (Sectional Semifinals):


Division 3:


Winnebago Lutheran 3, St. Mary’s Springs 1 (21-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-23)

--The Vikings advance to Saturday’s Sectional Championship Game at Dodgeland High School against Waterloo. Waterloo upset top-seeded Cuba City in another Sectional Semifinal game last night.


Game Stats:


WLA: Lexi Livieri totaled 10 kills, Alyssa Lorenz had nine kills and seven blocks. Hailey Becker totaled 29 assists and 11 digs.


Springs: Emily Mueller had 15 kills and five blocks, Virginia Arndt 16 assists and two aces, Brianna Freund 10 kills and two blocks, Katie Baker 19 digs, Leah Flitter had five kills.


WIAA Boys Soccer Tournament (Sectional Semifinals):


Division Four:


Wayland Academy 2, Winnebago Lutheran 0


Sturgeon Bay 4, St. Lawrence Seminary 3 (Shootout - game tied at 2 after overtime).


High School Football Playoffs continue tonight:


In Division One, the Fond du Lac Cardinals welcome #3 seed Arrowhead to town.


Also in Division one,


Kimberly hosts Milwaukee Marquette, with the winner advancing to take on the Fondy/Arrowhead winner next week, Appleton North hosts Neenah and Stevens Point is at Bay Port


In Division Four, Kiel hosts Greendale Martin Luther


In Division Five, the seventh-seed Laconia Spartans travel to #6 seed Valders tonight.  Also in D5, New Holstein travels to Cedar Grove-Belgium.


In Division Six, St. Mary’s Springs hosts Dodgeland in round two action, with the game played at North Fond du Lac High School.

NBA:


Boston 96, Milwaukee 89

--Giannis Antetokounmpo had a double-double of 28 points and 10 rebounds in the loss for the Bucks at UW-Milwaukee’s Panther Arena in the Bucks “Return to the Mecca” game. Khris Middleton and Malcolm Brogdon each scored 15 for Milwaukee. Al Horford had 27 to lead Boston. The Bucks travel to Atlanta for action on Sunday afternoon.


NFL:


Thursday Night Football:


Baltimore 40, Miami 0

--The Ravens got three defensive scores in the fourth quarter to blow the game open in a blowout win over the Dolphins Thursday night.


MLB:


The Brewers have signed Chase Anderson to a two-year contract through the 2019 season with team options for 2020 and 2021. Anderson went 12-4 with a 2.74 ERA in 25 starts, collecting a career high in wins and strikeouts (133). The contract is worth $11.75 million guaranteed according to MLB.com.


The Brewers also signed Eric Sogard to a one-year contract on Thursday. Sogard hit .273 with three home runs and 18 RBI in 94 games in his first season with Milwaukee. Sogard made 60 starts at four different positions in 2017, with an on-base percentage of .393.


Game three of the World Series is tonight as the series shifts to Houston. The series is tied at one game apiece after Houston’s extra-inning win in Los Angeles on Wednesday. First pitch is around 7:20 central time tonight.
