High School Softball on KFIZ this afternoon as Laconia hosts Mayville in a WIAA Division 3 Regional Championship Game. Coverage starts at 4:55, first pitch at 5pm on KFIZ.

 

Girls Soccer:

Track & Field:

 

WIAA Division 1 Sectionals (At West Bend West):

 

Both the Fond du Lac boys and girls track & field teams are sectional champions. The Cardinal boys scored 119 points, while the Fondy girls totaled 90 points at the sectional meet.

 

For the Cardinal boys, Andrew Stone (shot put & discus). Noah Tagliapietra (800 meter, 1,600 meter, 3,200 meter), Trey Halfmann (200 meter dash), 4X200, 4X400, 4X800 meter relay teams all qualify for state

 

For the Cardinal girls, Katie Retzlaff (100 meter hurdles), Nicole Lord (100 meter, 200 meter & long jump), Ally Gietzel (400 meter & long jump), Brooke McDowell & Amber Wells (300 meter hurdles) all qualify for state.

 

WIAA Division 2 Sectionals (At East Troy):

 

Winnebago Lutheran girls finish ninth at the sectionals with 32 points. Mackenzie Boehlke (Shot put & discus) & Sarah Niehauser (1,600 meter & 3,200 meter)

 

North Fond du Lac girls place 10th at sectionals with 29 points. Frannie Sokolik qualifies for state in the long jump, 100 meter dash and the triple jump. The North Fond du Lac boys finish 18th at sectionals, Tim Barthmann (pole vault) and Nathan Schallert (shot put) qualify for state.

 

Waupun girls place 11th, Waupun boys finish 8th

 

Laconia girls finish 18th at the D2 sectionals, Allison Grahl qualifies for state in the 400 meter dash. The Laconia boys finish 25th.

 

Lomira girls finish 19th at the D2 sectionals, state qualifiers include Natalie Geiger in the shot put and Marin Reed in the 3,200 meter. The Lomira boys finish 27th.

 

Campbellsport girls place 29th at the D2 sectionals

 

WIAA Division 3 Sectionals (At Hilbert):

 

St. Mary’s Springs girls place 7th with 41.5 points. Qualifying for state for the Ledger girls are Lexi Franz in the high jump, Allison Taylor in the 400 meter dash and the 4×200 meter relay team.

 

The St. Mary’s Springs boys finish sixth at the D3 sectionals at Hilbert. Qualifying for state for the Ledger boys are Jake Hoch in the 400 meter dash, Michael Buetow in the Shot Put, Jake Schrauth in the Shot Put and the 4X100 and 4X200 meter relay teams.

 

Boys Tennis:

 

Fond du Lac finishes second at the WIAA Division 1 sectional meet at Oshkosh West. Drew Jorgensen qualifies for the state individual meet in singles. The doubles team of Felix Cloutier/Kyle Leisses take second at sectionals to qualify for state.

–Orlando Arica went 1 for 3 with a double in the loss for the Brewers. Diamondbacks starter Robbie Ray kept the Brewer bats silent, allowing just two hits in seven innings on the mound and striking out nine. Game two of the series is tonight, coverage starts at 6:35 on KFIZ.

College Football:

 

The Badgers announced their season opener on Friday, September 1st, will kickoff at 8pm and be televised by ESPN. It’s the first Friday night contest for the Badgers since 2002, when they defeated Fresno State, and the 19th night game all-time in Camp Randall Stadium’s history.

–LeBron James scored 35 points as the Cavs advanced to the NBA Finals for the third straight year. The Cavs will take on Golden State with game one slated for next Thursday.
