Ledgers Advance to Sectional

St. Mary’s Springs jumped
out to a 4-0 lead on Fond du Lac and rolled to a
6-3 win and a Regional championship at the Blue Line Family Ice Center on Thursday night.   Mark Austin got the Ledgers on the board in
the first period with the only goal of the first 17 minutes.  The flood gates opened for St. Mary’s Springs
in the 2nd as Brady Sarauer, Zach McLaughlin and Conner Blank scored
to make it 4-0.  Alex Graf got Fondy on
the board with a goal late in the 2nd to make it 4-1.  The Cardinals tried to make a game of it as
Bailey Koenigs put the puck in the net to make it 4-2 with 15:29 left in the 3rd
period.  Freshman Johnny Welsh made it
5-2 with a goal 6:12 left and then with 5:26 Ian Tess-Wanat gave Fondy hope
with a goal to make it 5-3.  Conner Blank
put it away for the Ledgers with his 2nd goal of the night.  The win advances St. Mary’s Springs to the
Sectional Semifinal on Tuesday night.
The Ledgers will host #8 seed Brookfield
who upset #1 seed Homestead
4-3 in overtime.  You’ll hear it on
News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.

Wilson Sets Scoring Mark

With an assist in the 2nd
period on Alex Graf’s Fond du Lac
goal, senior Michael Wilson became the Cardinals all-time leading scorer.  His 164th career point put him one
ahead of Jason Lettau, who had 163 points from 1999-2002.  Wilson
looks to continue his hockey career in the USHL next season.  He is property of the Omaha Lancers.
