Winnebago Lutheran senior Mitch McFarlane
hit a jumper as time expired in overtime giving the Vikings a 51-50 win over
Omro and a share of the Flyway Conference title on Thursday night.  Omro’s
Travis Pomplun hit a left baseline three-pointer with :14 seconds left in the
extra period to give the Foxes the 50-49 lead before McFarlane’s game
winner.  The WLA senior finished with 31 points.  WLA and Omro both
finish with 10-2 records in the conference.  The Vikings (14-8) last
league title came in 2010.  They will host Poynette next Tuesday in the 1st round of the Division Three
Regional.  Omro (19-3) will host Lomira in their playoff opener on
Tuesday.

Kimberly knocked off the Fond du Lac boys 71-55 in
their regular season finale at the Acuity Fieldhouse on Thursday night.  Drew Jorgensen had 20 and Caleb Goldstein 18
in the loss.  Fondy (8-14, 6-12) will
open up WIAA Division One Regional play on Tuesday when they host Green Bay
Preble.  You’ll hear it on News-Talk 1450
KFIZ.

The Fond du Lac girls basketball team opens up
Regional play tonight as they travel to Kimberly.  The Papermakers swept Fondy in the regular
season winning at Kimberly 57-48 on January 12th and then 52-40 at
Fondy on January 22nd
Coverage begins at 6:30pm tonight on KFIZ with the tip set for 7pm.

 

Fond du Lac High School had a pair of wrestling compete on day 1 of the WIAA
Individual State Wrestling Tournament. 
At 145 Josh Adams won his 1st match by pin before falling in
the quarterfinals.  At 285 Dante Johnson
also won via pin in his opener then fell in the quarters.  Both wrestlers will wrestle again today with
a chance to get 3rd place.

 

In Division Two, Lomira’s
Tyler Garriety won his 1st round match at 106 while Allan Klink fell
at 220.  Ripon’s Ryan Socha (220) and
Cody Jacobson (285) both won opening matches. 
Chilton-Hilbert had three wrestlers lose opening matches in Jordan
Propson (160), Jared Mueller (182), and Dunan Calnan (195)

 

In D3, New Holstein’s Matt
Buechel (220) won his 1st match while  Jacob Barth (182) and Tony Pernell (285)
dropped matches.

team continues NACC Tournament play with a semifinal matchup at #1 seed and
unbeaten Benedictine tonight.  The tip is
set for 7pm.

 

The Marian men’s hockey team
continues Harris Cup playoff action tonight with a weekend semifinal series at
St. Norbert.  The puck drops at 7pm
