Baseball Hall of Famer Ralph Kiner has died.  The slugger hit 396 home runs during his 10-year career mostly with Pittsburgh.  He became a broadcast legend with the New York Mets after his career.  He was 91.

The Sochi Olympic are underway in Russia.  The opening ceremonies are set for tonight.

The Badgerland Conference Hockey Tournament moves to the Blueline Family Ice Center today with semifinal games.  Fond du Lac takes on top seed Appleton United tonight at 5:45pm while St. Mary’s Springs takes on Oshkosh at 8:15pm.  You’ll hear both games on KFIZ. Kimberly edged the Fond du Lac boys basketball team 36-35 on Thursday night in FVA action.  The Papermakers jumped on the Cardinals early in the 2nd half to turn a one point lead into a 9 point cushion and never trailed in the final two quarters.  The Cardinals cut the Papermaker lead to 1 a couple of times but could never get over the hump. Joe Schore’s potential game winning three pointer at the horn rimmed out.  Schorse and Brian Luteyn led Fondy with 10 points each.  The Cardinals will head to Appleton West on Saturday night.  You’ll hear it on KFIZ.  Coverage begins at 7:05pm with the Backyard Grill Pregame Show.  The tip is set for 7:30pm.
