The Brewers got swept by the Phillies on Thursday afternoon with an ugly 9-1 loss at Miller Park.  Matt Garza took a no-hitter into the 7th inning before Jimmy Rollins broke it up.  In the 8th, the flood gates opened for Philly.  Garza left with two outs in the 8th and Will Smith got knocked around, getting charged with 5 of the 7 Phillies runs.  Wei-Chung Wang gave up a couple more in the 9th.  Carlos Gomez had a solo homer for the Brewers only run.  The Brewers open up a big three game series with the Cardinals tonight at Miller ParkMilwaukee holds a two game lead over St. Louis in the N.L. Central.  Yovani Gallardo takes on Joe Kelly in the series opener tonight.  Coverage begins at 6:35pm on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.


After the game, the Brewers played Wei-Chung Wang on the 15-day disabled list with shoulder tightness and called up Jimmy Nelson from Triple-A Nashville.  Nelson will get the start on Saturday against St. Louis in place of Marco Estrada.

The Brewers will now have three starters in the lineup for the National League at the All-Star Game in Minnesota on Tuesday night.  St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina will miss 8 to 12 weeks with a thumb injury so Jonathan Lucroy will start at catcher for the NL on Tuesday night.  He’ll be joined in the starting lineup by 3rd baseman Aramis Ramirez and outfielder Carlos Gomez.


Packer fans will have to wait at least one more season to see the team retire Brett Favre’s #4 jersey.  Packers CEO Mark Murphy told reporters on Thursday that they hope to get #4 retired before Favre is eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in two years.


Zach Johnson , Brian Harman, and Rory Sabbitini fired 8-under par 63s to lead after one round of the PGA Tour’s John Deere Classic.  Jerry Kelly is tied for 11th at -5,   Steve Stricker had a -3, 68. and Mark Wlson shot an even par 71


The Bucks are gearing up for their Las Vegas Summer League opener tonight as they take on the Cleveland Cavs.  The game will feature the Bucks #2 overall pick Jabari Parker and the #1 over pick Andrew Wiggins for the Cavs. The tip is set for 7pm, Wisconsin time. Milwaukee will face Phoenix on Sunday and the Utah Jazz on Monday.    


Still no word on the status of NBA free agent LeBron James.  He flew back to Miami on Thursday after meeting with Cleveland.  A decision could come today.  The other big prize in the free agent market Carmelo Anthony also hasn’t made a decision where he will play next season.
