The 1st
place Milwaukee Brewers open up the 2nd half of the season with a
three game series in Washington,
DC
tonight.  The Brewers have a 1 game lead over St. Louis and a 1.5 game
cushion over the Reds in the National League Central with a 53-43 record.  Kyle Lohse gets the start against Stephen
Strasburg.  Coverage begins at 5:30pm on
News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.  The first pitch is
set for 6:05pm.    After three games
against the Nationals the Brewers open up a seven game homestand at Miller Park
against the Reds and Mets.

 

The Bucks wrap
up their run at the Las Vegas Summer League this afternoon as they take on Golden StateMilwaukee
is 0-4 so far.  Giannis Antetokounmpo
leads the team so far averaging 17 points and 5 rebounds per game.  1st round pick Jabari Parker is
making the NBA transition just fine averaging just under 15 points per
game. 

 

ESPN is
reporting that the Cleveland Cavaliers are ready to trade the #1 overall pick
in the draft Andrew Wiggins to Minnesota
for forward Kevin Love.  With LeBron
James signing a two year contract, the Cavs are in a “win now” mode rather than
developing talent.  Love is a free agent
at the end of this next season but has expressed interest in playing with
James. 

 

Badger running
back Melvin Gordon is on the pre-season watch list for the Doak Walker
Award.  That’s given annually to the
nation’s top running back.

 

Rory McIlroy had
a one shot lead at -6 after one round of the British Open at Royal Liverpool on
Thursday.  Tiger Woods was three shots
off the lead after one round at -3.  Phil
Mickelson was at +1 after one round, which is right on the projected cut
line.
