The Green Bay Packers open up training camp this morning with their first workout.  The team will practice in shells at 8:20am and it will be open to the public.  The team’s Family Night Scrimmage is Saturday, August 3rd at Lambeau Field. Seven Packers Out

As the Packers begin training camp workouts today seven players are on the physically unable to perform list.  They include running back DuJuan Harris, tackle Derek Sherrod, defensive end Jerel Worthy, rookie offensive lineman JC Tretter along with safeties Sean Richardson and Chaz Powell.  Defensive lineman Mike Neal is also on that list.  He was a full participant in OTAs but failed his physical on Thursday.

 

Packers Sign Jones

The Green Bay Packers have signed first round draft pick Datone Jones on the eve of training camp.  Jones was the 26th overall pick in the first round of this past springs draft and is expected to complete for a starting spot on the Packers defensive line.  The team also signed safety Ryan McMahon.  He was invited to invited to participate in the teams rookie orientation as an undrafted free agent out of Sacramento State.

 

Falcons Sign Ryan

The Atlanta Falcons have made quarterback Matt Ryan a $100 million dollar man, inking him to a five year extension that could be worth nearly $104 million dollar deal.  He’s the only $100 million dollar QB that hasn’t won a Super Bowl.

 

Padres Out-Slug Brewers

San Diego took their series finale from the Brewers 10-8 on Thursday afternoon.  Yovani Gallardo gave up six runs on eight hits in just 3 and two thirds innings of work to get hung with the loss. Mike Gonzalez also gave up four runs in one inning as the Brewers offense couldn’t keep up. Nori Aoki, Carlos Gomez and Yuni Betancourt all homered in the loss.  The Brewers open up a weekend series in Colorado tonight.  Wily Peralta takes on Tyler Chatwood.  Coverage begins at 7:05pm on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.

 

Braun Will Speak

Ryan Braun let the Brewers public relations department that he will speak to the media on his suspension but he is not legally allowed at this time.  Nobody has heard from Braun since MLB announced his suspension for the rest of the season earlier this week.

 

Brewers Move

The Brewers have sent utility man Sean Halton back to Triple-A Nashville and have called up reliever Rob Wooten.  He was 0-1 with a 2.94 ERA and 20 saves as Nashville’s closer this year.
