Brewers Fall in Extras

Carlos Pena’s three run blast in the 10th gave the Houston Astros at 7-4 win over the Brewers on Thursday afternoon.  The Astros tied the game with a homer off of Jim Henderson in the 8th after Yovani Gallardo gave up just three runs and 5 hits in 7 innings of work.  Mike Gonzales took the loss.  The NL East leading Atlanta Braves come to Milwaukee for a three game weekend series starting tonight.  Coverage begins at 6:35pm on KFIZ.

Heat Take NBA Title

The Miami Heat are back to back NBA champions after a 95-88 win over San Antonio in Game 7 of the NBA Finals last night. LeBron James scored 37 points and pulled down 12 rebounds en route to being named Finals MVP. Dwyane Wade added 23 in the win. Tim Duncan had 24 points and 12 rebounds to lead San Antonio. 

 

PGA Tour

Charlie Hoffmann fired a 9-under par 61 to take a one shot lead over Hunter Mahan at the Travelers Championship on the PGA Tour.  Madison’s Jerry Kelly is tied for 18th at -3.  Fellow Wisconsinite Mark Wilson fired an even par 70 and it tied for 66th.

 

WIAA Basketball Rule Changes

The WIAA has added a so-called “mercy rule” for boys and girls high school basketball.  Starting next season, when a team is leading by 40 points or more the clock will continue to run for the entire 4th quarter.  The WIAA also ruled that a Division One team won’t be allowed to host Sectional Semifinal or Final if their team is playing in the game.  They also will mandate three person officiating crews for all playoff games.  The Board of Controls voted down adding a 35-second shot clock

 

NASCAR At Road America

The NASCAR Nationwide Series is at Road America this weekend for the Johnsonville Sausage 200.  Qualifying starts at 11:05am on Saturday with the green flag dropping at 4:20pm.
