The Wisconsin Badgers shook
off a sluggish start to blow out American 75-35 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center
in Round 2 of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.  American jumped out to a 17-10 lead midway
through the first half before the Badgers exploded to take a 32-22 lead at the
half.  UW outscored the Eagles 43-13 to
earn the blowout win.  Traevon Jackson
had 18 and Ben Brust scored 17 in the win. 
The Badgers will play Oregon
on the 3rd Round on Saturday.right around 7pm.  Texas and Michigan will tip at 4:15pm in Milwaukee.

 

Milwaukee’s season came to an end in Buffalo, falling to #2 seed Villanova
73-53. 

 

As always the round of 64
had their share of bracket busing upsets. 
#11 Dayton took down #6 Ohio State
60-59 in the South Region.  Also in the
South. #9 seed Pittsburgh blew out #8 Colorado 77-48.  In the East #12 seed Harvard took down #5 Cincinnati 61-57.  In the West #12 North
Dakota
State beat #5 Oklahoma 80-75 in
overtime.

Defending champion Algoma knocked the St. Mary’s Springs
girls out of the WIAA Division Four Tournament with a 42-37 overtime win at the
Resch Center
in Green Bay on
Thursday night.  The Ledger fell behind
by 9 early in the 1st quarter but turned it around to lead by as
many as 4 in the 3rd quarter and led by one at 37-36 with 6:03 left
in the 4th quarter.  Algoma
changed to a zone defense and Springs did not score the rest of regulation or
OT.  Algoma outscored Springs 5-0 in the
OT to pick up the win. Kelly Schrauth led Springs with 17 points and 13
rebounds.  Melanie Schneider added nine
points as SMSA’s season ends at 23-4. 
Algoma will play Cuba
City
on Saturday
afternoon for the state title.

Golden State beat
the Bucks 115-110 last night in Oakland.  Brandon Knight led 7 Bucks in double figures
with 17.  Steph Curry had 31 for the
Warriors.  Milwaukee may have lost Nate Wolters for the
season with a broken hand.

 

The Brewers edged the Rockies 4-3 in Cactus League play on Thursday. Caleb
Gindl went 2×4 with 2 RBI in the win. 
The Brewers play Texas
today.

 

Adam Scott fired a 10-under
par 62 to take a 3 shot lead after one round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational
on the PGA Tour.  Ryo Ishikawa and John
Merrick sit at -7.
