It’s week 8 of the High School Football Season tonight…

The Fond du Lac Cardinals travel to Wisconsin Rapids for their week 8 game. The Cardinals are tied with the Red Raiders and Hortonville for second place in the conference going into tonight’s game. Wisconsin Rapids quarterback Ben Olson has thrown for 1400 yards and 12 touchdowns and is aided by receiving targets Austin Glinski and Isaiah Westfall. Cardinals head coach Mike Gnewuch says their defensive plan is to keep Olson inside the tackles and double cover the receivers. Gnewuch says one of the keys to a win is to bring energy and finish strong.

In the Flyway, a game that will decide the conference championship will be played at Laconia tonight, as the Spartans host Saint Mary’s Springs. Ledgers Head Coach Bob Hyland says Laconia is a balanced team, throwing and running on offense and on defense is going to bring 8 people at them. He says he knows it’s Laconia’s chance to win a conference championship, so they anticipate a hard fought game.

On the other sideline tonight, Laconia Head Coach Mark Madigan says taking advantage of opportunities in tonight’s game is crucial. They need to put points on the board and play “responsibility football”.

The Winnebago Lutheran Vikings travel to Mayville tonight following a defeat at home at the hands of St. Mary’s Springs on Homecoming last Saturday. Head Coach John Boggs says the Cardinals have tall players, their quarterback can throw the ball and they have good running backs.

Boggs says their focus this week hasn’t been entirely on Mayville, but getting better as a team. Focusing on the little things and playing a complete game.

In High School coaching news, Dwaine Dailey has stepped down as the head football coach at Lomira High School. Dailey will remain with the program for the remainder of the season in another capacity. Shane Obrigewitch will serve as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
