Super Bowl
50 will feature the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers.  Peyton Manning’s Broncos edged New England 20-18 in the AFC Championship Game Sunday
afternoon.  Tom Brady hit Rob Gronkowski
on a TD pass with :12 seconds left but the 2-point conversion failed and Denver moves on to the
Super Bowl.   Carolina
blew out Arizona
49-15 in the NFC Championship Game.  Cam
Newton threw for 335 yards and a pair of touchdowns.  He also ran for 2 TDs.   You’ll hear Super Bowl 50 on February 7th on
News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.  The Panthers are
early 5 and a half point favorites.

 

Fox Sports
reports that Mike McCarthy is set to hire Ben Sirmans as their new running
backs coach. He’s spent the last four seasons in that role with the Rams.  Fox Sports also reports that Brian Angelichio
will be the new tight ends coach replacing Jerry Fontenot.  Angelichio was the Browns tight ends coach
last season.

 

Henry
Ellenson scored 16 points and pulled down 18 rebounds as Marquette won at St. John’s 78-73 on
Sunday.  The Golden Eagles improve to
13-7 overall and 3-5 in the Big East.

 

The Badgers
will host Indiana
on Tuesday night. 

 

Rickie
Fowler won the Abu Dhabi Championship by one shot over Thomas Pieters of Belgium on
Sunday.   Rory McIlroy and Henrik Stenson
tied for 3rd.

 

Jason Dufner
edged David Lingmerth to win the CareerBuilders Classic on the PGA Tour on the
2nd playoff hole.  The pair finished the
72 hold event at -25.  After sharing the
1st round lead, Madison’s
Jerry Kelly faded to 42nd.

 

Fond du Lac High School
senior Justin Maratik has decided to walk-on and play college football as NCAA Division
One FCS
South Dakota State
.  Maratik is Fond du Lac’s all-time leading rusher and was
1st team Valley Football Association South and Honorable Mention All
State.   He rushed for over 1700 yards
and 25 touchdowns as a senior.  He
expected to play safety for the Jackrabbits in Brookings, South Dakota.
