Brewers Fall

The Pittsburgh Pirates completed the three game sweep with a marathon 2-1 14 inning win over the Brewers on Sunday. Russell Martin’s pinch hit single in the 14th off of Francisco Rodriguez provided the game winning run for Pittsburgh in the 14th.   Martin Maldonado went 3×5 for Milwaukee and the rest of the team went 1×41 during the game.  The game included long rain delay that stretched the game to finish more than 6.5 hours after it started because of a 2:20 minute rain delay. The Brewers open up a four game set in Washington tonight  Yovanio Gallardo takes on Wisconsin native Jordan Zimmermann in the series opener. Coverage begins at 5:30pm on KFIZ.

Bucks Offer Jennings

The Milwaukee Bucks took the first step to keep guard Brandon Jennings on the team putting a $4.3 million dollar qualifying offer on the table for the restricted free agent.  The offer means the Bucks have the right to match any offer he may get from another team.  Reports say the Bucks want to sign Jennings to a long-term contract.  Yahoo! Sports reports that the Bucks will no sign guard JJ Redick, letting him become an free agent.

 

Kenseth Wins

Wisconsin native Matt Kenseth won for the 4th time this season taking the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Kentucky on Sunday.  Jamie McMurray was 2nd and Clint Bowyer was 3rd.

 

PGA Tour

Bill Hass won the AT&T National on the PGA Tour by three shots over Robert Castro.  Wisconsin native Mark Wilson did not make the cut.

WBCA All-Star Classic

The Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Classic was held this past Friday and Saturday.  72 high school baseball seniors played in the event, split into four teams.  Winnebago Lutheran’s Kevin Seibel and Maustin Otterstatter played for the North squad and head coach Mike Seibel was a coach for the North.  Their team went 2-1 for the weekend.  Otterstatter went 1×4 and also pitched four scoreless innings during the weekend.  Seibel went 1×5 and logged 11 innings at shortstop.  Waupun’s Colin DoBoer and Jordan Daane also played in the event for the South team.
